Cal Shilling

Working in the Talent Acquisition and Human Resources field for over 20 years, Cal is not the traditional HR practitioner. His passion is talent acquisition. With an extensive network in the tech community, he is an expert in identifying impact players: those risk takers looking for entrepreneurial opportunities with the ability to drive strategy and deliver outstanding results.

For over 13 years his focus has been in technology with primary areas of expertise driving global expansion in hyper growth SaaS, Cloud, and Enterprise Software companies. 

Most recently, Cal was responsible for talent acquisition and Human Resources at Vocus, a global cloud marketing Software Company.  Cal joined the company in 2000 as the 50th employee. Over the years he was responsible for hiring thousands of tech talent supporting the company’s growth to 200 million in revenue. His overall objective is to make individuals, teams and organizations the best they can be by connecting talent with opportunity on a global scale.

Cal has assisted over 50 technology companies in creating sustainable talent acquisitions programs contributing to their successful pursuit of impact players.



Christopher Rott, SPHR

Chris most recently served as Vice President of Human Resources at AppAssure Software, Inc. which was acquired by Dell.  His career spans all facets of human resources including performance management, employee relations, organization development, strategic partnering, compensation & benefits, and employment law.

Mr. Rott is also a professor of Human Resources at University of Maryland University College.  He teaches classes ranging from Organizational Development, Human Resources, and Labor Relations to Employment Law. He was involved in the development of the first web-based classroom technology used at UMUC.  Mr. Rott earned a M.S. in Human Resources from Nova Southeastern University.
